Draft Prospect Watch-Linebackers
By J.T.
The 2022 NFL Draft is coming up quick and Sportsvival is here to point out the top players at each position. This week we will go over the linebackers. The 2022 draft definitely tilts toward defense. There are a couple of guys shooting for first round status, but the LB group should have nice depth throughout the draft. Note that all these players may not have all committed to the NFL as of this writing.
Nakobe Dean- Georgia– Dean comes in as the #5 overall prospect on the SV big board. Nakobe was responsible for a plethora of big plays, can do it all. (Blitz, cover, tackle)
Devin Lloyd- Utah– Lloyd is an athletic and long player who has a nice burst and tracks down his target with ease. Good tackler. 26th prospect on SV big board
Brandon Smith- Penn St.- Smith enters this list as the 35th overall prospect. A 240-lb linebacker who has been timed at 4.40 in the 40. Gets to top speed fast, has a high ceiling. Can miss tackles at times.
Christian Harris-Alabama- Tough player who loves to get underneath the pads of lineman and drive them back. Could be the best run stopper in this class.
Chad Muma- Wyoming- Competes every play. Very smart player who has the tackling skills down to an art. Excellent angle in pursuit. Athletic enough to cover tight ends.
Adam Anderson- Georgia- 6’5” and a ferocious competitor. Freakish athlete with good pursuit and long arms to control the runner.
D’Marco Jackson- Appalachian St.- Plays with a non-stop motor. Can be stiff at times, has a ceiling. Has not hit top potential yet.
Nolan Smith- Georgia- 3rd Georgia linebacker on the list. Impressive frame and good instincts. Very physical.
Damone Clark- LSU- Strong, long frame who can shed blocks and pursuit with the best of them.
Leo Chenal- Wisconsin- Does not have the frame as some of the other top LB’s but is a diligent worker who is always looking to get better.
