#3 Texans, #4 Jets, Biggest Needs by Logan Lepiscopo

NFL Teams Biggest Needs by Draft Order

A brand-new article series! NFL writer Logan Lepiscopo brings a series that will entitle every NFL team’s biggest offseason need heading into free agency and the NFL draft. Each article will consist of two teams going in draft order. This article will be about the Houston Texans and the New York Jets. If a team has multiple first round picks, the team that originally owned that pick will be covered, to avoid repetitiveness and ensure all 32 teams are covered. Also, just like the last article featuring the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions I will do a mock draft for the Houston Texans and New York Jets. *Mock drafts done on thedraftnetwork.com.mock-drafts*

Houston Texans: Everything…

  1. This is going to be an offseason for the Texans to pay close attention to, mostly because of none other than Deshaun Watson. With Deshaun Watson still in legal trouble and the Texans not moving their trade price for Watson, it will be intriguing to see if this offseason Watson gets moved. Right now Davis Mills is expected to be the guy, and though I am not 100% sold on him yet, there is a very clear case for the Texans to give Mills a full year as the starting quarterback. But outside of the quarterback situation it is hard to find something that this team has going well for them. Everything is atrocious and needs a complete rebuild, the only problem is the little cap space that the Texans currently have. The Texans are going to need to either make some cuts and trades, or really hit perfectly in their draft. Down below I have what I think right now will be the perfect draft for the Texans, minus a big possibility that the team trades down from the number three overall pick. Realistically the Texans could take anybody at the third pick, and it would set up a superstar to build around for years. Pick 3Pick 37Pick 68Pick 80Pick 135Pick 181Pick 203Pick 205Pick 242K. New York Jets: Safety

  1. Usually the teams that are in the top 5-10 picks of the draft have more than one need, and similar to the Texans I see a lot of needs for the Jets. Zach Wilson is definitely the quarterback for the future. Mekhi Becton, Elijah Moore, and Michael Carter will work alongside Wilson to be the offense’s building blocks for the future. As for the defense, this young, underrated cornerback room proved themselves in 2021, and of course Quinnen Williams is the brightest spot of the team heading into free agency and the draft. With Marcus Maye and Lamarcus Joyner both hitting free agency I think it is clear cut that safety is the position to address, and if the first three picks go how I think, Kyle Hamilton will fall right into the Jets lap at number four overall. With that being said, here is my mock draft for the New York Jets. Pick 4Pick 10Pick 35Pick 38Pick 69Pick 109Pick 115Pick 145Pick 162K. Hamilton
