Jahan Dotson Draft Profile by J.T.

Draft Profile

WR-Jahan Dotson

Penn St.

5’ 11” 184 pounds

Background

Dotson was named his Nazareth Area High School football teams MVP as a freshman. After his senior season, Jahan was named to First Team All-USA Pennsylvania Football Team by the USA Today. Dotson put up huge numbers in high school which included 187 receptions for 2,755 receiving yards and 40 touchdowns. Was a 4-star prospect by ESPN and Rivals. A complete athlete he won the 4X100 meter relay for Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and State Championship. Won the Pennsylvania State Championship in the long jump as well. He will be a star at the Draft Combine.

Positives

+ Change of Direction to go along with his elite speed is unfair to the defenders covering him

+ Speed in high school was clocked at 4.33

+Excellent hand/eye coordination

+ Can run all routes and does so seamlessly

Weaknesses

  1. Not many weaknesses, but at times tends to become lazy on some routes

  2. Not the greatest blocker, but he is a willing participant

Overall

Jahan Dotson has sort of been under the radar as he is not as talked about as the other star receivers in the draft. Chris Snyder of Sportsvival was shocked that Dotson was not a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. Dotson has first round talent and after the combine should solidify himself as such. A Tyreek Hill comparison that will have NFL coaches drooling.
