Kyle Hamilton
Safety
Notre Dame
6’ 4” 220 pounds
Background
A late bloomer on the football field. Kyle excelled at basketball early on. His father Derrek Hamilton was a third-round draft choice in the NBA, and played professional in Europe. Things started looking up for Hamilton his junior season of football, as he racked up 60 tackles and had 6 interceptions. 247 Sports Composite had Kyle listed as the fifth best safety in the class and ninth-best player in Georgia. Had interest from local schools (Georgia, Georgia Tech) but decided on Notre Dame. Hamilton said the decision was based on the fact that the Fighting Irish recognized his talents earlier than the others.
Pros (+)
+ Perfect safety build, big and fast. Game changer.
+ Can cover 100 % of the field in a flash
+ Good recovery speed
+ Has above average football IQ
+ Run stopper as well as coverage
Weaknesses (-)
Can sometimes bite on play fakes
Over pursuit at times
6’ 4” could be an issue vs. smaller, faster WR’s
Overall
Kyle Hamilton is a possible game changing safety that will be looked at early in the 2022 Draft. I would be shocked to see Hamilton slip out of the top 10. Has the potential to be a future NFL All-Pro for many years to come.
