The NBA announced this past week that the 2024 NBA draft will be expanded to a two-day format. Round one will be held on Wednesday, June 26th, and the second round on Thursday, June 27th.
Both rounds will tip off at 8:00 pm EST.
The first round will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, home of the Brooklyn Nets. Round two will be held in ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in New York City.
The first round will continue to be five minutes in between picks. For the second round, the time has increased to four minutes after originally only being two minutes between selections.
This is a welcome change to the NBA GM’s who were under the gun to make trades while picks were being made at a fast pace. The NBA drafts are known for creating the most trades during the draft and this should only add to the number of transactions that we will see on draft night.
The addition still has to be approved by the NBPA, but with the money the league will bring in with the extra day of coverage, this is said to be a no-brainer.
