Today’s Spotlight - Notre Dame, Running Back, Audric Estime
Name- Audric Estime
Pos- Running Back
Team- Notre Dame
HT/WT- 5’11” 233 lbs.
Home – Nyack, NY
Audric Estime was a 4-star recruit by both 247Sports and by Rivals coming out of St. Joseph Regional High School in New Jersey. He was named the 2020 New Jersey Player of the Year after collecting 1,857 yards and 22 touchdowns. He originally committed to Michigan State but would later change his mind and select Notre Dame.
Estime played in 12 games in his freshman year but mostly played on special teams, ending his season with 60 yards on just 7 carries. This past season as a sophomore, Estime played a larger role in the Fighting Irish offense. He started all 13 games and led Notre Dame in rushing with 920 yards and 11 touchdowns while also hauling in 9 passes for 135 yards and 1 touchdown.
2023 was a huge season for Estime. He ran for 1,341 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Fighting Irish. Estime's season has him now moving up to a late 2nd day draft pick possibly.
Estime has a large build to go along with good balance to bounce off tacklers and is rarely brought down one-on-one. He has excellent vision and is athletic for his size, cutting on a dime when changing direction. He is a north-south runner who doesn’t hesitate to hit the hole and gain yards. He rarely is brought down for a loss, even if blocking breaks down. He has enough burst to beat edge containment and once he gets a head of steam, he’s tough to corral. He has a feel for when to bounce outside and understands running angles to beat you to the perimeter. He is a proficient pass catcher who excels on swing passes.
Estime is not going to blow by defenders and in the NFL, will have to rely on more than just running over tacklers at the next level. His pass blocking is a work in progress and his mechanics need to be improved to take advantage of his size. He has a tendency later in games to run too upright and loses his leverage and power to beat tacklers one-on-one.
Audric Estime reminds Draft 412 of 2017 4th round pick and current Denver Bronco Samaje Perine. Both backs love using their size to break tackles seeking out contact and have the hands to haul in some passes in the passing game.
Tough to tackle
Hands/ Passing game
Seeks out contact to a fault
Upright late in games
Audric Estime was considered a late round or an undrafted prospect coming into the season, but after his stellar 2023 with big games against good defenses, he is now in the group of top 5 running backs.
