Draft Prospect Watch-Cornerbacks

By J.T.

The 2022 NFL Draft is coming up quick and Sportsvival is here to point out the top players at each position. This week we will go over the corner backs. With the NFL becoming increasingly a pass heavy league the CB position is as important as ever. Sportsvival has 6 CBs listed in our top 50.

1–Derek Stingley, Jr.-LSU- Incredible athlete, with ball hawking skills of elite precision. Sportsvival has Stingley ranked #7 on the big board.

2–Kalir Elam-Florida- Physical corner who likes to use his hands and play face up. Only negative may be against slippery type receivers he may become off balance at times. Plays with an elite toughness. Ranked #13 on our big board.

3– Trent McDuffie-Washington- A willing, physical tackler. McDuffie has a good football IQ and can play inside or outside. Versatile enough could be a top punt returner. Sportsvival has McDuffie as #19 on big board.

4– Ahmad (Sauce) Gardner-Cincinnati- Gardner is an exceptional athlete and moves well for his size 6’2” 188 lbs. Gardner sports an uncanny burst when going for ball or making tackles. Gardner could move up our big board as time goes on, right now he is #20.

5– Roger McCreary-Auburn- McCreary another top 25 player on our big board (#24). Elite man to man coverage, McCreary always played his best in the biggest of games.

6– Andrew Booth, Jr.-Clemson- Booth is not afraid to mix it up with bigger receivers. Physical in going for the ball and tracks the ball well. Not the best football IQ, uses athleticism to overcome mistakes. #42 on our big board.

7–Coby Bryant-Cincinnati- Though more people seem to be aware of his teammate Sauce Gardner, Bryant was named the nation’s top cornerback. Bryant, though possibly in the shadows of his teammate possessed an exceptionally good resume for a career at the next level. Fluid and able to make post snap adjustments. Look for Bryant to use the combine to move up.

8–Josh Jobe-Alabama- Jobe is a pure press man to man cover guy. Jobe has trouble at times tracking the ball. Quick in a straight line but has trouble slowing down and coming back. Needs to work on technique for next level.

9– Kyler Gordon-Washington- Effective in man and zone coverage. Went beaten late can close to get a hand on the pass. At times can get beat on play action, a willing run stopper who sometimes gets caught looking in the backfield.

10–Martin Emerson-Mississippi St.- Tough with an intimidating feel over the middle. Can improve footwork. Decent size and length.
