The Penguins, right after re-signing goaltender, Tristan Jarry, to a 5-year contract, brought in goalie, Alex Nedeljkovic, to add some depth to the organization. Nedeljkovic is a 27-year-old netminder who is coming off a disappointing season that saw him spend most of last year playing in the Minors for Detroit. In the 2020-2021 season for the Carolina Hurricanes, Nedeljkovic had a breakout second half of the year and finished 15-5-3 with a 1.90 GAA. Nedeljkovic has yet to regain that form but is still considered a goalie with upside.
One of the knocks on Nedeljkovic is his lack of rebound control. He is a quick goaltender that moves laterally well in the net. He will be an insurance policy against the re-signing of starter, Tristan Jarry, who has had a history of injury problems. For a one-year, 1.5MM contract, this signing makes sense for the Penguins.
