The Pittsburgh Steelers signed 8-year veteran inside linebacker Kwon Alexander to a one-year deal. Alexander played the 2022 season with the New York Jets, starting 12 games with 69 tackles, a forced fumble, and 0.5 sack. Alexander, a 4th round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015, has 11 career forced fumbles, 8 interceptions, and 12.5 sacks in his career.

Alexander made the Pro Bowl in 2017 but has dealt with some serious injuries over the past couple of years. He suffered a torn pectoral muscle in 2019 and torn achilles in 2020.

Alexander, 29 (in a week) gives the Steelers some much needed depth at a position they have worked to rebuild this off-season. He joins Elandon Roberts and Cole Holcomb at the position, adding veteran depth and presence to the middle of the defense. Alexander is solid in zone coverage, having the speed to get to the ball and route runners. If he has a downside, one of his shortcomings throughout his career has been one-on-one tackling.

With the signing of Alexander, the Steelers have released offensive tackle Jarrid Williams.
